Question The Usual: LimeWire not connecting.

First of all, I just want everyone reading this thread to realize that I HAVE read many of the millions of threads on LimeWire being unable to connect to the internet. I have even gone to Google and followed the instructions of everyone else. Nothing I have done, has fixed my connectivity issue.

When I open LimeWire, it only shows one single bar being green, indefinitely. I have now changed it to only manually connect, with still no difference. I have replaced the gnutella.net file as one instruction suggested. I have disabled several temporary settings as other instructions suggested. I even completely disabled all of my firewalls, and LimeWire still said it had detected a firewall.

1. OS version?

Windows Vista: Home Premium

2. What firewalls you have?

Windows Firewall (disabled), Norton Internet Security 15.0.0.60

3. How much ram?

1534 MB

4. Hard Disk space available?

greater than 200 GB

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)

Cable

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

Motorola 585100 and Netgear WGT624 v2 respectively

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?

Home

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

LimeWire 4.18.3 and Java 1.6.0_05

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

Brighthouse Networks

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

"Your test worked!" is displayed in the upper left corner

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

No

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

LimeWire runs perfectly on my laptop, my parents' laptop, and used to run perfectly on this computer. I am not sure when or what happened to cause LimeWire to stop functioning.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image

Yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

I did not set up my modem / router so I'm unsure how exactly they are configured. If you need to know exactly, I will be more than happy to let you know if someone could point me in the right direction.

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall

Norton Internet Security 15.0.0.60 and Windows Defender. (Windows Firewall is disabled).

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).

USA

Thank you for any help you can supply. Seeing as LimeWire still will not connect even when I completely disable Norton's firewall, I do not think the issue lies with Norton. I also went under Program Control and set LimeWire's access to Allow. When this did not do anything, I manually went in and created rules to confirm that every possible connection on every possible port would allow incoming and outgoing data to and from LimeWire at every possible time. LimeWire still does not connect. For these reasons, I do not believe the problem is Norton, however I am not fully closing that possibility either.
