Unexplained Speed Jump

HELLO - I'M NEW HERE AND TO COMPUTERS BUT HERE GOES. I HAVE A H.P. COMPAQ WITH A DIAL UP CONNECTION.IF NEEDED I WILL GET AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE ON THE SYSTEM. THE QUESTION: I WAS DOWNLOADING A SONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SPEED JUMPED TO 60KPS AND HIGHER. DOWNLOADS HAVE NEVER BEEN THAT FAST!! USUALLY 3 TO 6 KPS IS AS FAST AS IT GETS. ANY IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AND HOW CAN I GET THAT SPEED ALL THE TIME? SHORT OF GETTING A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION THAT IS.

A number of factors cause changing download speeds; most have nothing do to with anything on your end.

Also, STOP YELLING (using all caps). It is considered bad form here and throughout the internet.

Thank you for the reply and the advice on internet decorum. Didn't know about the all caps. Finally got so sick of slooow dial-up, i called and am getting high speed installed.Hopefully that will solve the problem of wildly changing speeds.
