Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.

![]() Windows Vista Limewire 4.18.8 Cable No error message. All firewalls are off, redownloaded limewire, tried frostwire, deleted 'gnutella.net', but nothing is working. The little firewall is still there and no connection is being made. When on frostwire, error message 'no connection found' came up. Help! |

I have a firewall stopping any connections. all it is saying "starting connections". i've made exceptions for limewire within windows security and eset smart securitys. ![]() Limewire pro 4.18.8 Windows Xp Avg Anti virus Gateway Wireless Router ( adsl) I can conect fine but my searches, theres nothing, even for common files that u would be able to find no problem arent there, i can download, download speed seems to be fine, and as well as uploading, just not searches, i have disabled the ultrapeers..what next? Plus i cant get rid of that brick, limewire is on the exceptation list however |

![]() 1. OS version? Windows xp service pack 3 admin account 2. What firewalls you have? Avg and a router which my provider said I cant change because its factory set but very low? 3. How much ram? I don’t know for sure 4. Hard Disk space available? lots 5. Connection type? Broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Gigaset (gateway) 7. Where are you trying to connect from ? Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.18.8 9. Who is your ISP Telus 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test works 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up./ NO 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user./ New problem with this program/old program worked well 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? I have the brick wall but its on my exceptation list yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?- UPNP 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? AVG and windows 16. What country are you living in? CANADA 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? NO TO ALL and JAVA IS CURRENT I can connect, download, but when it comes to searching….I cant find much |

After several searches on Telus and the Wlan Gigaset Routers that they offer, I find that ALL of their Routers are Firewalled. Try Portforwarding the Router but the Very Important First Step would be to set up a Static IP. See Link >>>Setting up Static ip for Windows XP Next Step would be to Portforward the Gigaset Router. See Link Below Port forwarding the Siemens Gigaset SE567 Hope this Helps. |

You can remove any ultrapeers that you're connected to at any time (connecting to different ultrapeers can make a difference in the results that you see), by clicking on the Connections tab & then right clicking on a host > remove. A new one will take it's place. And if that's no help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will change all of your settings within LW's options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things to the way you like them. |
