Talking finally solved the problem!!! (manual port forward corrects firewall issue)

ok, so apparently my wireless router has a firewall, so i had to do manual port forwarding and configure it with my router as well. if u have a linksys, i can help you with that. if not, just do what i did... do a live chat with technical support for the router and they walk you through it step by step

If you changed nothing just before the trouble began, then you might consider your ISP as the culprit.

Having tried "numerous things" doesn't tell us much; could you at least refer to the post that lists the steps you followed? And if you really made an effort with those other posts, then you should know to include your system info. so we can move to the more complicated steps to restore your system to health.

Wink Linksys firewall

I know we have the same problem. My Limewire works fine whenconnected directly to my cable modem but when the linksys, wireless G router is put in line, Limewire detects a firewall. I have had some problems with the router allowing multiple computers to access it but soved them with Cisco--it was a long process getting thropugh to them however, and I'd really appreciate and help avoiding that enourmous company. I have no idea how to tell the router to cut it out and let me share files. I'm running OX 10.5.5 on a duel g4 powr PC based mac. Thanks for your help

If you have a look underneath your linksys router you should see the model number, can you tell us what it is so we can get you the instructions you need to port forward...
