Okay guys, I've read a lot of the other threads and I still can't figure this out. I have Windows and Norton firewalls on my computer but I have Limewire listed as an exception in both of them, but I still get the firewall icon in Limewire when I open it. I've tried turning them both off and restarting Limewire and it still has the brick wall that says there's a firewall. I'm using Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 3 and my ISP is Earthlink US. I have a cable modem, I'm using Limewire 4.16.2 Pro with Java 1.6.0_07. I have UPnP enabled. I have about 130 GB free. Any ideas?

I have heard that .. that is why I shut both off.. I was wondering if it was a server issue for Limewire. Curretnly I have both shut off.. but before I had Limewire exempt on both. I have WIndows Vista, 4.18.8 and w westell 300 series wireless modem.. Ive only noticed the proplem in the last week.. I even upgraded the limewire software.. thanks for responding. |

Westell .. eeps .. not the best brand to use UPnP setting on. Westell tends to be unreliable for UPnP.
UPnP can stop functioning properly if you have too many incomplete files flooding connection or other things interfering with LW's communication with the device. I insist, try the options I suggested earlier. Manual connect & also purge your incomplete folder. I sometimes get connection issue. I turn to manual connect & wait a few mins for LW to settle before connecting. I attempt several times & it usually works. Purging incompletes will refresh your LW unbelievably so.

I've tried just about everything on that list and it still insists there's a firewall. My firewalls have been off for hours now and I've double-checked to make sure they both have limewire excepted just in case.

Tried rebooting ?
I know it sounds extreme ... but sometimes UPnP, etc. issues remain until computer is reset.
