Need to check your ISP allows static ip's. Some don't. Setting up a Static ip is where most people get it wrong. But this 'must' be done first before port forwarding can be done. I can tell you there's been many users on these forums using same brand & model of router with problems. Just discovered why, SURFboard SBG900 - Motorola. The Motorola SBG900 does not support UPnP thus needs to be port forwarded or port triggered. Apparently the SBG 900 does have a firewall configuration to set high, medium or low. See page 27 of manual. Motorola SBG900 Manual = http://broadband.motorola.com/consum...User_Guide.pdf (2.9 MB acrobat PDF file) Port Forwarding on page 44 or Port Triggering p.48). TCP/UDP combined should be chosen. Port to choose, choose one between 49152 - 65535, such as 64049. Reciprocate this port in the LW advanced -> Firewall setting for connection & listening ports. Verifying ip address, page 62 of manual. ie: 1. Start menu, 2. Select Run, Type cmd & click OK. 3. Type ipconfig & press enter to display ip configuration. * Port Triggering is slightly different to port forwarding. Not sure whether static ip is required for port triggering but would imagine so because most of these settings are based on ip address of particular computer or user. However I do not see a particular ip address entry point. So perhaps this is an alternative option. ;) * One thing I discovered whilst browsing the pdf manual is you 'do' need to reboot the router for changes to take effect. ;) (p.76 of manual) This used to also be true with my 'old' router. |
I had trouble setting up a static ip address. I would put one in, but then I couldn't log on to the web.Any suggestions? |
Hey guys the test link finally works. Where do I go from here? |
Do you still see a brick wall icon at bottom of LW? Will it connect at all? If not, you could replace the gnutella.net file. If still no connection, install FrostWire & see if that connects. If it does, copy the gnutella.net file from the FrostWire preferences folder across & replace the one in the LW preferences folder. ;) (LW would need to be closed whilst you do this.) |

Frostwire does not connect ither. |
You will find one half way down this page: If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link), else in the FW preferences folder. However if it's not connecting, then something is wrong. Did you set the port in FrostWire same as LimeWire? Normally only one application should use a specific port forwarded port, however, FrostWire will also not be able to find an open port for listening. Another firewall rule with a different port for FrostWire is probably needed. O.o Same process but just different port forward number. You already have a static ip so you will not need to do that again, if you did it correctly. And of course enter this port into FW's advanced firewall section. Perhaps turn your router's firewall security down to 'Low'. Could even turn it off just as an experiment to see if that makes a difference. (think you need to reboot the router again though for the router to use the changes.) |
When I try to download zshare, it says the webpage cannot be displayed. When I try to download the 2nd one, all I get is a bunch of #s.??? |
How can I find out if I have a static ip? |
Also, my ip add. is the same as my LAN. What does this mean? I'm sorry Lord for being so computer illiterate. I appreciate your patience. |
