XP SP3 killing limewire? (firewall is disabled)

OK i have limewire pro 4.9.33 running on multiple PC's those are XP sp2. I just got my wife a laptop and reloaded it with XP sp3. I have the windows firewall disabled. i have a linksys wrt54g router i have port 6346 forwarded under apps and games to the IP's on my network...

LW thinks there is a firewall i ran the bug test and its false also the globe and the wall are in the bottom pannel saying it detects a firewall any ideas?

java 6.11
Nod32 antivirus only no firewall

Thanks

Try Forwarding a Port for the Router.
Be sure to set up a static IP address First.
Instructions are in the Link Below.

i have narrowed it down to a windows problem...my one box running SP1 works but i just put sp 2 on one laptop and sp3 on another and neither are working i bypassed my linksys router and went right into my dsl modem and still could not connect so i know its a windows problem. i have disabled both the windows firewall and nod 32 is only a antivirus....I hate windows i run ubuntu on my desktop but she needs windows.

any idea on any other things to check in windows i even re-enabled the firewal and made sure lime wire was an exception and opened the port for udp and tcp and still couldn't get it to go...

On article i see it has a listening port and a manual i need to go check that out maybe its not really on port 6346 unless i click manual

hmmm...well I for one have had no issues with SP1, SP2 or SP3 conflicting with file sharing...DrTCP windows tcp tuning and tweaking - dslreports.com , do some research on it and what it does, use it and see if windows has some hosed settings for TCP/UDP...

as a note, in general I install service packs while doing a reformat and clean install of the OS, but with SP3 I didn't, and as noted have had no issues...

OK here is a question i just downloaded the drtcp and i have the windows firewall off and set to not monitor when i click the .exe it pops up and say do you want to run...if it was really disabled it shouldn't ask that right....

Man i wish i could just put linux on this thing....

Well windows is junk i just installed limewire in ubuntu in about 4 clicks and it works fine so i know my router is working correctly it has to be a windows problem...any one have any ideas before i downgrade this thing to SP1?

This is brand new install of xp so i know everything is working fine...I will try one last time to uninstall and resintall and maybe try the latests free version to see if i can get it to work.

I have also had SP1,2, & 3 without a glitch. This may be a mute point, but are you set as the Admin on the XP box ?? Not sure if this will help but AFAIK you have to be set as Admin. Other than that...??? SP1 may be the alternative.

You are using an older version of Pro. You might back up that installer and try a Later Version of Basic, just to see if that may be some of the Problem. 4.18.8 is the latest stable version out, I believe. I don't use LW much anymore so I'm a little out of touch.
