Getting Limewire to work on an Intranet (with or without internet access)

Okay. Question. (Just maybe, I'm not or this thread isn't in the right section for a query like this.)

1. Can LW work in an Intranet* setting that is not connected to the Internet (but might be, in the future) ? (Is it good in such a setting ?)

2. If yes, is there any config-ing to do to get it to work ? What is it ?

*This Intranet has got no UPnP port forwarding.

How are the computers connected? If it's through a router then portforwarding and using direct connect should work in theory.

You'd need enough ultrapeers for all to connect. I'm not sure LW will work well that way anyway.

I am aware Phex can be run on an intranet. Ask arne_bab for more information or check similar questions in Phex section or the general gnutella sections lower down.

Thanks !

Hey !

LOTR and Sleepless, thanks a lot guys. I checked out Phex and it's great ! I'm messing about with the source to customise it for my environment.

Thanks again,

The Mad Scientist
