i have LW 4.16.7 installed, havent used it for about a month, but it had worked fine (though i did have to delete and replace my gnutella.net file a while back). so anyway tonight when i loaded it up for the first time in a long while, i found that at the bottom left where the 5 bars normally turn green (letting me know im connected), all but half of the smallest one are remaining red instead (meaning i dont get results for any search cuz im apparently not connected). it used to work fine, so im pretty sure its not a computer and settings problem.

i see that there is an LW5 out, but i see alot of people expressing dismay with it. so my question is can i get my old version to work? is there something i have to do to make it work now? or is LW5 the only way to have a working version of limewire? i noticed several times in the LW forum and other threads here people recommended for others who were unhappy with 5 to stay with LW4, but im wondering does LW4 still work? is my case unique? or are others having issues getting connected using older (non5) versions?

any help or guidance would be much appreciated. thanks!

I'm happily using LW 4.16 .. is that any comfort. And downloading a dozen files, with up to 10 hosts per file, uploading happily also.
But for people who have been using LW for a period, their old gnutella.net file might have gone stale. However there might be other reasons why the connection problem.
