Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.

![]() I have Limewire Pro running on Windows Vista with a cable internet connection. When I first connect, I get turbo but within minutes my connection goes back to medium or full connection. Any idea why the turbo connection is not maintained? |

![]() When your connection drops off, do you have files downloading? And how many files are you sharing? If you give us your system details, it'll help. For starters, we'll at least know which version of LW you're using ![]() System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!! In the meantime - make sure that your Java's up to date. Java SE Downloads Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions via Control Panel before installing another one. Reboot your computer after installing the new Java version. Also try disabling performance options... LW 4: Disable all options (TLS, DHT, UP capablilties) within LW's tools > options > advanced > performance. Click Apply > ok to save the change. LW 5: In LW tools > options > advanced > super really advanced > performance. Disable ultrapeer capabilities, connecting to DHT & also TLS > ok. |

![]() Exactly right, birdy. FLroadrunner, Some additional questions: How fast is your Internet connection? Are you sharing a lot of files? Are you downloading a lot of files? Do you have BitTorrent open? Are you seeding files you downloaded off BitTorrent? Are you watching a lot of streaming videos or have a lot of websites open? If you are using all of your bandwidth by doing all of the above, you will see your connectivity drop as a result. When you notice this, do you notice that websites load slower, too? |

![]() Yup - but the most common issue is not connection flooding, the problem is that with active seeding you use a lot of your upstream. Most residential cable providers cannot handle much downstream at all while the upstream pipe is clogged, so seeding torrents can hinder Internet connectivity across the board on residential uplinks. |
