Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. For example: If LW 5 Will Not Connect Quote:
If you've posted on so many forums, then you should know how to do a simple forum search - in which case you would have found the Connection Problems section & it's stickies . Last edited by birdy; August 20th, 2009 at 03:17 AM. |

First of all I'm glad to see that I got a response as quick as I did with regards to my issue I'm having. @ Lord of the Rings: I'm unsure what you mean by "your gnutella.net file is out of date", but I just installed this program, as noted in my OP. If there is some file I need to update, an explanation as to how to do that, or where to find it, would have helped. I used a product called Revo Unistaller, to remove my old version of Limewire, which would have done a much more thorough job of uninstalling the product, and would have taken LW off my firewall exceptions list. I've checked, and LW is on that list currently. I did check, and there is only the Windows Firewall enabled on this computer. Next I followed the link you provided. As previously noted, LW is already an exception to my Firewall. I've looked into setting up an exception on my router, and my particular router is not listed so that I may do this. Therefore I don't know how to make this exception, and if it needs to be done, then I'll need more info to accomplish this. I then started from scratch, and still got no results. @ birdy: I followed your link, and have done the following, & some of which is just repeat efforts as stated above; I'm only using 1 firewall. It is configured to allow LW. My router is not listed on the Website "Portforward.com". And I am still behind a firewall. I have again attempted the removal, and adding of new rules for LW. I tried the "exit, and restarting of LW" to no avail. I have removed Java that I had installed on my system,(V.6.14, installed on 8/06/09), and have installed v.6.16. Restarted LW. The removal, and re-installation of Java APPEARS to have worked. The application is loading, or "adding" some, if not all of the 1,947 files I had on my system already. Also the notice regarding me being behind a firewall has changed to state that I now, "support firewall transfers." And my "connection" status is now at 5 bars, and states I have a "Full" connection. I'm not certain exactly which part of all of the work I did accomplished my connection, but it was after the install of Java v6.16, that everything seemed to change. I don't think I would have changed the order of anything though. (Meaning, I wouldn't skip any of the previous steps for anyone reading this post later on in hopes of "shortcutting" to an end result) I AM thankful for the help, however I think you people need some help in your own manners. I made a 3 line statement about the junk (1/2 a page), that someone has to go through, in order to get to the info they need for help, and you people spend 3/4 of YOUR time admonishing me for it. How ridiculous. Your site wouldn't need that information if it was laid out better, and more organized. But apparently you'd rather spend your time yelling at people, (and in the case of the inept, "ukbobboy01", who I'm certain loves the fact that he can hide behind a keyboard, instead of facing someone in the flesh)rather than point them in the right direction. I realize that EVENTUALLy, you got around to helping me, but you certainly wanted to get the bitching part off your chests first, didn't you? And I do realize that there are alot of people that don't know how to post in a public forum, but I don't think chastizing people is the most productive way to help them. How about an "easy to find Glossary" to help people understand the terms you're using? You've been at this for so long, you've forgotten what it's like to come into this as a newbie, and not know everything that is needed. Or maybe you just don't care. Either way, I think your response to me was rather unwarrented, AND obnoxious! BTW, part of my disgust for this process of yours stems from the fact, that I DID PAY FOR THE PRO VERSION OF THIS SITE AT ONE TIME! It was about 4 years ago, when I owned a different computer. It was an HP, and a piece of crap. Eventually HP bought it back from me. When I got this Dell that I'm using now, and tried to reconnect to my Pro version of this product, like I had been told I would be able to do, "FOR LIFE", I was unable to. I tried contacting customer support, I tried every conceivable combination of my name, and passwords ( I had the combination for this site written down, and they no longer worked), I could think of, and couldn't access my account with Lime Wire. And your "customer support" was no help either. So, I don't give a damn what you people think of how I'm handling this situation. I was told that when I paid for the "Pro" version of this product, that I could use it for life, and would "NEVER" be charged for it again. I don't like being lied to, or ripped off. And this company has done both to me. So my desire to not hurt anyones feelings here doesn't mean squat to me! And believe me, when I say, that was the nicest way I could put that. You want people to be friendly, and helpful to each other on these forums, and then you let that little **** ant, "ukbobboy01" make the insulting comments he did instead of helping out? Don't you have moderators to review peoples' posts? Sounds more like you guys need some serious attitude adjusting to me. And BTW you little prick "bob boy", if you want obnoxious, you ain't seen nothing yet. Get a life you little maggot, and come out from your little dungeon, and DO SOMETHING ACTUALLY CONSTRUCTIVE, instead of throwing little jabs at people from beind a keyboard! We over here on this side of the pond have a name for people like you who throw names at people and then run and hide behind their mommies. We call people like you, PUSSIES! OH, and just in case some moderator wants to "censor" my comments, I DON'T CARE! You let this idiot "bob boy" get make his comments for the other two posters, then I feel, I can make mine. Thanks, have a Great Day! LOL Odean |

Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules. Start here Suggestions to help you get connected, try here first, then see below And btw ... have a nice day & thank you for insulting a forum administrator & a long-term helper on the forums. We do not get paid for helping here .. so when we see a little arrogance aimed at us ... and your first post was full of insults about the forum .. second post insults at the admin & a long-term helper. Have a nice day sir. Now since you are 'full' of insults ... and you expect everyone to bow down to you ... polish your shoes ... yus sir yus sir ... anything else we can do for you. You started out on the wrong foot. I guess you came here because all the other forums flicked you off with 'your attitude'. We are normally more friendly to those who do not start off with insults. And since UKBob & I will not even bother reading all that long rubbish in your post, I guess it's up to birdy if she's bothered or someone else, also if they are 'bothered' to care about someone who introduces themselves to the forum with two insulting posts.
