![]() I have treid everything in these Forums and I still cannot get LW to connect. My sister, who lives with me, has the same computer as I do and uses the same internet connection and the same version of LimeWire and is able to connect. Please help! When I open LimeWire (version 4.12.6) I only get one green bar on the connectivity chart and there's a globe with a wall in front of it. I opened Windows Firewall under the classic view of Control Panel and made sure that LW was listed as an exception. Then I turned off Windows Firewall altogether and it still did not solve my connectivity issues. I had Norton Antivirus, but completely uninstalled it to see if that was the problem (because I didn't know how to turn it off like suggested in the Forum) but LW still wouldn't connect. I hope this is a simple solution, but I don't know what else to do. 1. OS version? Windows XP Home Edition 2002 2. What firewalls you have? I'm not sure. I think I have the standard Windows Firewall and I had Norton, but uninstalled it. 3. How much ram? 1 GB 4. Hard Disk space available? I don't know 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) I live in Mexico and get my internet through a telephone line. The company is TelCel. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 2WIRE Gateway Model # RG2701HG-00 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? The connection is direct to my house. 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.12.6 Java 1.5.0_04 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? TelCel (Mexico) 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says my test worked. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No, my computer is the only one. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have never been able to connect to LW with my (this)computer, but I use it just fine on my sister's. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I don't know what this means. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? I had Norton Antivirus 2006, but uninstalled it. 16. What country are you living in? Mexico 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? Yes, but so has my sister and she can connect and I can't. I've never been able to. |

![]() You are using Dial up? If yes, you may struggle to have both LW's running at same time. Try this: Go to LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> SuperReallyAdvanced -> Firewalls. Make sure both your connection & listening ports are different to the ones your sister is using. Change manually if necessary. Choose a port number between 49152 - 65535 ... sample image on this setting window can be seen here: Manual port forward instructions & sample image. It might also be a good idea to get a copy of the Gnutella.net file your sister is using & drop it into your LW preferences folder replacing your older one ... but LW must be closed whilst you do that. Your preferences folder will be found at either C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire or C:\Documents and Settings\*yourusername*\Application Data\limewire The latter location you can only find if you go to View options & enable Show Hidden Files & Folders. Application Data is a hidden folder. |

![]() Thanks for your help, but that didn't work. ![]() My sister and I don't use LimeWire at the same time. She doesn't live with me anymore, but I was always able to access it on her computer and not mine. I changed both port numbers to 56732 (where it says "Listen on Port" and "Manual Port Forward") and I'm still not able to connect. I just recently restored my computer and I put her version of LimeWire onto my computer. I wasn't able to get connectivity before the restore or after. Any other suggestions? |

![]() Are you sure that the 2-wire model is 2701HG-00? There are lots of 2701HG models but I can't find that particular one. Have you tried all of the fixes in this thread (click on link)? If LW 4 Will Not Connect After you deleted LW's preferences folder, did you have to go through LW's setup all over again? And did you have any trouble with replacing the gnutella.net file? Do you have a dial up connection? The 2701HG looks like a broadband gateway. Last edited by birdy; September 8th, 2009 at 08:13 PM. |
