Frostwire has been working perfectly and suddenly will not move past "starting connection". I'm using on campus internet but my roommates say they're not having a problem with theirs'. I've been reading the forums for the past couple days and trying all the suggestions but nothing's working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times but nothing is working

ISP = UNIVERSITY (I won't name which one)

It's my bet they are blocking ports or p2p sharing. Many if not most universities do nowadays because they pay a lot of money for their bandwidth & p2p uses lots of bandwidth. Try setting FW to use a port between 49152 - 65535. An example is port 64049. Go to FW's Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewall, and set both connection & listening ports to a port in that range. Then go to File menu choose Disconnect. Wait a minute. Then File menu -> Connect. Else restart FW.

If that does not work, chances are the university has special tools to block ports for p2p programs which can detect when they are being used & attempting to use the bandwidth.

Just to make sure, I should change Listen on Port as well as Manual Port Forwards to something like 64049?

Not really. Using a proxy is a possibility but definitely takes a lot of time to work through proxies & get them working. And still might not solve the problem. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post124144 or page 1 for some proxy suggestions.

The university 'might' only be targeting well known p2p sharing programs. Another option is installing Phex which is lesser known. http://www.phex.org/wiki/index.php/Getting_Started
