Exclamation LimeWire won't connect. "Loading..." won't go away!

I'm new to LimeWire and not very computer smart so I really would appreciate any help!!!

I've just installed LimeWire 5.3.6. It connects fine, but when I begin a search it doesn't come up with ANY results!

It says something like, "You must wait for LimeWire to finish loading before any results will be shown." (Not exact words)

So I've crossed my searches and there is a bar that pops up at the bottom just above where the connection is that says "Loading..."
(I hope that makes sense)

I waited for like an hour and it still didn't finish loading.

I've allowed it (is that how you say it?) in my firewall settings if thats any help?

My connection also goes up and down between "Weak connection," to "Full connection." Does that play a part in the problem at all? It mostly stays on, "Medium connection."

Hope someone can help! Don't use to much tech talk or you'lll confuse me! Thankyou!!!

Your problem appears to be your ISP -> CARPHONE WAREHOUSE BROADBAND SERVICES which shapes p2p file sharing. That's of course if you are using same ISP for LW as you posted here. You will find them listed here ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire (Click on blue link) #18.

It's my guess you are using AOL right? In the UK, AOL uses a few ISP's but Carphone Warehouse is one of the main ones AOL uses depending on your exact location.

So is there nothing that I can do to get Limewire to work?

And yes you're right I am using AOL. Is there no way to unblock LimeWire?

Thankyou for replying by the way!

No .. they block it using special devices/software within their servers. They are aware that p2p gaming & file sharing uses a lot of bandwidth so by saving that bandwidth they save money to sell it to business, etc. AOL generally works by renting lines & bandwidth from other surrounding ISP's .. so by not using as much they save costs.
