LW doesn't want to connect

Hello,

I have a MAC and limewire 5.4.6, and LW doesn't want to connect. I reinstall lw, I deleted the preferences, I did everything and it still doesn't work. What have I to do ?

Thanks

You have tried these things If LW 5 Will Not Connect ? :)

And also this: OSX Firewall settings for Tiger/Leopard

If yes, then please supply some more details: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

Thanks for your answer :)

Well:

CHECK YOUR FIREWALL => done
DISCONNECT/RECONNECT LW => I don't find it
UPDATE/REINSTALL JAVA => there is no Mac update
CHANGE LISTEN ON PORT => done
PURGE DOWNLOAD QUEUE => there is no queue
DELETE LIMEWIRE'S PREFERENCES FOLDER => done
DELETE gnutella.net FILE (LW 5.0 users only) => done
DISABLE ULTRAPEER CAPABILITIES, DHT & TLS => I don't understand...

1. MAC OS X Snow leopard (10.6.2)
2. What firewalls you have? I don't have (unactivated)
3. How much ram? 4 Go
4. Hard Disk space available? 24.33 Go
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) wifi via airport
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? (eg: Linksys WRT54Gv4) Airport
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Appartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. _ Click to see Sample image

Already said!

*It's very important that you tell us whether you're using LW 5*
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Orange
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Nothing, it loads only
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
With utorrent
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
A new problem!
13. (a) Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface (only for LW 4 users)? _
No
(b) How many red or green bars do you see at bottom left of LW's screen? (all red or grey or only 1 or 2 green bars means disconnected)_ click here to see LW 5 Sample image, OR click here to see LW 4 Sample image

5 grey bars
If you're using LW5, there's no firewall icon. In LW go tools > advanced tools...there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall or not.
Click on thumbnail to enlarge the image.
firewall status.jpg
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
I don't know..
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall
None
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).
France
17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc?
Nothing

Does the page say 'Your Test Worked' ?

Possible issue I see off-hand is the Linksys router.

Have you ever been able to connect with LW or uTorrent with your present computer set up?

lulu January 6th, 2010 12:13 PM

Yes I have been able to use LW with the current setups!

It doesn't say your test worked...

lulu January 12th, 2010 03:45 AM

So, do you have any idea?

Lord of the Rings January 12th, 2010 03:56 AM

Sorry I forgot to reply to you earlier. :o
This is what you should see when you go to that test site url: Test site example image.
If you are not able to reach that page with your browser, it suggests 'something' is blocking the default LW connection port (& maybe the program itself.)

I can tell you the Linksys router model you have is a reknown problematic model. Linksys never fully fixed the firmware problems it has. ie: is unreliable when busy, and UPnP often does not work. Port forwarding the device improves reliability. I cannot say for sure that the linksys device is what's blocking you connecting to that page however. Your ISP, Orange 'might' be at fault.

In your OSX preferences -> Security -> Firewall, you are sure this is disabled?
