Default Limewire affecting my internect connection!

Whenever I run LW or other similar programmes such as Vuze/Azureus to download things, my internet connection is immediately affected. It begins to disconnect every minute or so and then re-connect. It's severely frustrating as it prolongs downloads by a considerable time and general things I do using internet are also interrupted.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

1. Windows Vists Home Premium - 32-bit
2. Windows Firewall. Avira AntiVir (don't know if this counts as a firewall?)
3. 2GB
4 8.07GB free of 74.2GB
5. Wireless Broadband
6. Realtek RTL8187B - 802.11g
7. House
8. Limewire 5.5.8. Java 1.6.0_20
9. Sky
10. Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www3.limewire.com:6346 - similar response on other browsers such as Firefox and IE.
11. 2 other laptops both with LW installed but I am usually the only one running it.
12. Problem persisting over a long period of time. Used LW for years now and same problem occurs with every version. Unfortunately can not remember which version of LW this started with.
13. Full connection after 30 seconds or so. In the box it reads, "You are behind a firewall and support firewall transfers".
14. Wireless router. Sorry don't know how to check about forwarding ports or UPnP.
15. Avira AntiVir. Windows Defender?
16. England
17. The only recent one I can think of listed is that I changed ISP's from AOL to Sky but the problem was there before I changed. Updated to my current version of LW but problem was also there before updating.
