Limewire 5.5.14 connection issues?

I've tried just about everything, well it sure seems that way since I've been at this for a few hours now. :(

I'll try to give you guys all the info you're looking for.

12. First Try/Experienced: I've been using Limewire for years and have never had any problems.

13. b) How many red/green/grey bars: I see five grey bars next to "Connecting.." at the bottom left hand side of the screen.

Note: It says to check Tools>Advanced Tools to see if I'm behind a firewall or not, but on that screen there is nothing.

14. Router Set-up Port Forwarding or UPnP: UPnP is enabled

15. Security Programs: Spyware Doctor & Windows Defender

16. Country: Canada

17. Any Recent Changes?: I have just recently upgraded to 5.5.14, I have also recently installed Spyware Doctor but the problem was there beforehand.

NOTE:
I have tried deleting the entire preferences directory,
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Limewire,
I have disabled all performance options and OOB searching,
I have tried deleting the gnutella.net file
I have uninstalled java then installed the latest version
I have tried changing the listening port

Can anyone help me, pleease! :(

Double check this test page, are you sure you cannot reach it? At top left of screen should receive message if can reach it. This is what you should see.

One thing i can think of with that model Linksys (which is known to have UPnP problems) is to port forward the device for that particular computer & user account. You would first need to set up a static ip address before you created a port clearance for LW for that specific computer. Setting up Static ip address for Windows 7.

2. Go here & find your model under Linksys PortForward.com - Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model Click on that model number, click the skip advertisement link top right of page, then find LimeWire on the following page. :)

3. Set up a port or port range as suggested.

4. In LW, set it up for port forward using the same port numbers: Manual port forward instructions & sample image (includes instructions for LW 5.)
