Are you using Vista or later? If you have not set java to run as administrator, then search for java.exe and set it to run as admin. This seems to make a big difference for connecting.

Paste %appdata%/LimeWire into the Run program or search window. Is there a gnutella file existent?

Try the connection fix again.

Ignore the you are not connected to network message on main window. The front window simply connected to the LW site in past which no longer exists. It previously gave messages from the LW site including updates.
Did you mean LPE 5.6.2 or one of the earlier betas 5.6.0 or 5.6.1?

Is java set to run as admin? Seems to have an important effect on connecting.

And you tried the connection installer again?
Try the options in the LW5 Connection thread sticky in this forum section.

Also double-check your firewall. Some Windows updates can change firewall settings.

Did you do any computer software updates in between when it last connected and stopped connecting?

I own Limewire 4 OS X. It will not connect. My internet works fine. I am on it. Limewire worked fine after they were shut down. After a few weeks it stopped connecting. What can I do?

Use the LW connection installer. I am working on an update but, the present one should still work fine. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html ie: use the LW 5 connection installer, as I have not updated the Mac LW 4 installer in a year but will within the next week or so.
The connection installers I put together should have at least some good hosts remaining on it up to (or possibly even over) 12 months. Though obviously the newer the date of the installer is the better it will be.

The Mac LW 5 connection installer will work on any MacOSX version.
The Mac LW 4 connection installer will work on any Mac using OS 7 through to OSX 10.6 only (It has been customized for older Mac OS and to include older Mac LW versions. A different host file is installed depending on option chosen.)
