May I ask which version of LimeWire are you using?
Have you tried these options yet: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html though that's for LW 4, it also includes a link about firewall exception for LW on OSX.

Which version of LW 5 are you using? Some versions no longer work: Earlier Mac OS X versions get your LimeWire installer from link here
There are connection fixes to try in this thread: If LW 5 Will Not Connect Are you using a firewall? What's the brand & model of your modem/router? Oh well, Botox beat me to it!
