Unhappy satilite ...how do I set speed?

I have just set up a new satilite two system and am having problems with the connecttion speed setup? I am new to broadband and have little knowlegdge of the setup. I also have another issue, when I have downloaded mp3's they sound like they are comming out of a tin can though some sound ok, but not like when I was using my modem, which was at a painful 28k....what is up with that? I am also locking up more than before, is this all related to the use of the satilite could use some advice....Thank You.

Is your computer locking up or just limewire?
My computer is locking up and the only thing I can do is turn off the power and restart. I'm running windows xp pro. This only happens when I am running limewire.

I'm not sure I can help you with your satellite problems, but regarding the poor sound quality of your MP3 files:

What bitrate are they playing at? Songs with low bitrates tend to be low quality, and sound tin-canny. If your file is recorded at 128, then you should hear close to CD quality, and your MP3 files will play about one minute of music for every megabyte long they are. Make sure you are downloading files with a bitrate of at least 128 if you are concerned about sound quality.
