Hey, folks
Can somebody explain why the following is happening?: I enter a software title, or song title or any keyword including my own name! into Limewire's search box and click search. Limewire doesn't find the software or song on the network, but it does return a bunch of .RAR, .ZIP, .EXE, .HTML files with the same filename as the keyword I entered in the search box, and the files are all links to porn sites (and they're those horrible ones that open about 20 windows faster than you can close them so that you have to awkwardly explain to your seven-year-old daughter when she runs into your office why you're frantically trying to close windows displaying "pee pees", "wee wees", "boobies" and "bums.") (You can probably get the same result by entering your own name or any obscure or made-up word. If it doesn't happen the first time, re-enter the word a few times, and you'll probably see what I mean.) The files all seem to come from 66.250.52.45. What is this IP address? And how does it automatically name its porn link files to the keyword in your search box? Is there a way to prevent this? (I don't want to necessarily filter out all porn; I just don't want to be subject to these phony search results.) Thanks! |
