Regarding the speed of your downloads:

With all P2P networks you can only download as fast as the people on the other end can send the files to you. You will also notice that even though you can download that is get files from the network to your PC at a rate of 2Mbps. I am relatively confident that you cannot send files into the network (upload ) at that same rate. Well, this is true for most users. Also, recently I've received complaints from people not able to download at good speeds. After much troubleshooting we learned that the ISP was throttling P2P traffic. Nothing you can do about this short of changing ISPs.
Thanks for the explanation LeeWare. I guess as I become more acquainted with all the nuances involved in file sharing I will understand better.

Is there anywhere I can test my speeds and is there anywhere that explains, bit rates, ping rates, throttles etc in laymans terms?

Thanks again

Post File Sharing Concepts

I used to have a couple of software products that explained the fundamentals. I think that I will produce another video series that covers the basics.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was able to implement them all except for blocking IP addresses. Limewire won't accept my adding them.

Post Blocking IP Addresses

Don't worry about blocking the private-net IP addresses as downloads from those hosts are likely to be more reliable than they were when I first started the thread.

Smile my brain hurts

eek!
First time I have posted in a techie forum!
Love limewire just wish it wouldn't take a week and a half for the remix of "dancing queen" to download!
Basically, I think my system is badly configured and I am not capable enough to sort it out.

I have followed lots of the tips, but to no avail.
But, thank you for your valiant attempts to teach complete twits like me to get it done by themselves!
I salute you!

Post A Few Points

I would highly recommend you make sure your machine is free of spyware / adware and then determine what your upload and download speeds are you can do so by going to http://chi.speakeasy.net and doing a speed test. After that we can figure out what's wrong if anything with your limewire configuration.

Hope this helps.

Yet you still failed to explain how to sqeeze out 4 more hosts if it is capped. Isnt this program in java, no source code, just scripts.....yuck!
