Downloading Files

If you are new to limewire you have to double click the result to download or you have to click the result once and then click the download button icon. If you've done the above then perhaps there is an issue with you window arrangment that is the horizontal bar that splits your search results from your downloads -- you might need to adjust it. If you want to check to see if you have any transfers you would open your library tap

Select the Incomplete Files folder and hit the refresh button. You should see the name of the file you are downloading the the size of it should keep growing with each refresh. That's one way to determine if your downloads are working. However a better way is to goto /tools/statistics/bandwidth/downstream you should see your counters moving (incrementing)

Hope this helps.

Slow Downs

If you are experiencing download slow downs the remote host is probably overloaded with download requests. It's a simple resource and demand problem.

No much you can do about it.

Down;loads

1 : And How do you stop the Uploads out of the incomplete folder

2: How do you stop the Uploads when you have actually disconected Limewire?? they dont stop even when it's shut down

I have to reboot my computer to stop the Leeching on my system..

Is there another program that allows you to control who can leech from your computer because Lime wire is absolutly Bloody useless at this

It appears that you want to operate in leech mode that is be able to download stuff but not upload. Is this correct and if so, why?

Regarding upload requests coming from your computer even when the program is disconnected -- Well, when you disconnect limewire you just stop it from returning results to the network. But as long as the program is still running that is, in the system tray or as a window -- it acts like a web server and continues to provide files for people who have that computer listed as a source for downloads. Even after you reboot your computer those requests will continue to come in for some time and there's nothing you can do about it.

As for how to configure your limewire for leech mode -- I could tell you how to do it but I won't especially not on the forum because the forums are full with people complaining of download problems could you image the problems people would have if everyone started to configure their clients so that no one can upload from them?

This may or may not help: See the following link & follow all the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) It might also be worth seeing the links here: Downld/Upld Problems Sticky

sftmb it might be worth deleting your LW preferences whilst LW is closed; if you're a windows user then see Fixes for Limewire & there's animated examples at bottom of that page. (OSX prefs founds here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire) Make sure your maximum downlds is set to 1 or more, & also that your Days to keep Incomplete files is a high no. like 999. Also, be careful about clicking no to the licencing question & choosing always use that answer. That might be your problem. The normal way to undo that setting is either deleting the prefs folder or go to LW's menu Tools>Options>View>Popups & tick the Revert to Default option & press apply. Revert Popups to Default
