Very unhappy with limewire

I just joined the Limewire users the other day by upgrading to Limewire Pro. I thought when I upgraded, I would have better luck with dowloading music; this is not the case. When I get connected, after about 20 or so tries, I search for songs. When I search for an artist, like The ****, I only recieve about 13 songs, most of which aren't even correct. I am very positive that with over 20 albums someone, anyone, must have some songs able to be shared on this system. I want to know what service it is that I paid for, because right now I am getting next to nothing.

new problem

...after finally getting connected and miraculously finding 4 songs I can deal with, I wait for the downloading to begin (Requery Sent, Waiting for 237s for Results-this is apparently nothing new)-I minimize limewire to do something else because it is taking so long, I scan over the icon and it says I am disconnected from the network, even though when I maximize Limewire the little green dot is on and it tells me that I am connected. I am thoroughly disgusted right now.

I am glad that i didn't deside to buy this. Now after trying it for a few days or so and discovered that this is crap.. Unfortunately this is the only place to find applicatons and stuff. For music , -if you have PC - try WinMX or Kaza lite.
That works much better than this.
Hope to find a better solution for macs soon.
This system has slowed my mac down - it eats memory. After a few tries all the files that downloads - ends up "could not move to library" - so what's that point of being here. Or it stays in queue. I used to leave my computer on during the night or day when i go to work. When I get home.. if i am lucky - i have got one or two small small files of 20 k's or something... (that is lucky) Mostly... nothing in "complete-folder"
You can't see how many that are downloading the same files..
You can't see how and what exact they are downloading from you. I guess the numbers and searchings are thru the whole network.
You don't get the files anyway - if you do... that was probably a mistake :-)
It is very very slow
Some files are better found at the original place.. like updates and stuff - try the manufacturer - they do have a lot to share.

I hope that LimeWire gets better in the future... But now i guess i will uninstall this ****.

very unhappy with Limewire

I have read other replies and I agree with them all. I either get up to 96% and it goes into requery or I get a corrupted file. I am not fortunate to have a dsl or cable line and I appreciate the fact that this is free but it really gets to be a pain when you click on several songs hoping to connect to just one and then whey you do connect, it takes more than an hour and then it quits. The thing that makes me more unhappy than anything are the corrupted files that I have been getting and I know it is not my computer!! I use Kazaa also and it's just as bad. I do realize that we all are competing with over 7 million users and that is a lot but I sure hope you can improve the quality of the songs you are putting on the net. I will stay for a while and keep hoping that things will improve!!

LIMEWIRE REALLY DOES SUCK

I cant even run it anymore, after trying to install it for half an hour i get a 1607: runtime error, and i haven't got any good help here in these forums. I have windows, so i switched to shareaza... Gnutella-2 network!!! 50 kb/second....15 minutes for a 6-7 megabite song... Shareaza rules!!!!!!!:D

thoroughly disgusted because the tooltip is mistakenly saying you are disconnected? heh I know there is more to it than that..

oh man.. LimeWire does not put any songs on the net. Do you have any idea what sort of trouble that would get them in.. The only people who put songs on the net are users like you. LimeWire has no control over that. That just needed to be said

and could we all plesae stop calling the shareaza network gnutella2 :D

I guess the "you"-person is all the people who share music here.. 'YOU, ME and all the rest here..

If you find a song that are bad quality.. throw it away and don't "send it out onthe net again"... and the same for all programs that doesn't work because they miss something.
I have downloaded a lot of programs from everywhere and sometimes it takes a while before i check them... but if they are bad.. i throw them. Hopefully others will throw their bad files too.. and don't let them out on the net again...

My sad story...

After 3 hours and 28 minutes my 41,650k file was 99% complete and then "Requery....." When I finally reconnected, it cleared everything out and started over at 0. I checked the "Incompete" library and I had downloaded 41,602k out of 41,650, over three hours, and then it was all gone. Beautiful.

trap_jaw January 30th, 2003 05:27 PM

I don't know what you did to "reconnect" but what probably happened is, that there are two files with the same filename but different SHA-1 hashes, - since those files differ (although it might be just one byte that is different) LimeWire will create a new incomplete file for the second file and start at zero again. If it encounters the first file again, it will continue the first download at 99%.

Another possible explanation (if you killed it and resumed it for example) is that you messed the download up and LimeWire "forgot" about the original incomplete file.

We do know how the downloading works..

We are trying to find out ways to fool the program since it continues to do this "Cannot move to library" and other strange things.
We are trying to fool it by "Quit downloading this file" and "try again" to download it...
But everything we try ends up like normal. We can't have the file.

WE/I are also missing a lot of funktions on this Limewire program and we hope that the developer wakes up one day and fixe this problems.
We (I) also want to know "how long is the queue on THAT file" we (I) are trying to download...
We (I) want to see WHo is Downloading what from OUR (mine) harddisks.. We (I) don't want to see what everyone are downloading from everyone else...
And we (I) do want this Cannot move to Librarry thing fixed.. WE don't like spending hours of downloading just to have the file ending up "Cannot move to library). If the file isn't complete.. we would like to be able to download it completely or that we ourselves can move it to the right folder... not just disappearing to somewhere
