there is zero code currently in limewire to refuse a shareaza connection. there is code to reserve two leaf slots for LimeWire leaves -- but that's it.

This still leaves the question, though, why Shareaza doesn't connect to LW ultrapeers and vice versa. I guess the reason must be technical.

Actually, LimeWire reserves all but two leaf slots for LimeWire (and Swapper). See ConnectionManager.java lines 107ff. "ALLOWED_BAD_LEAF_CONNECTIONS = 2".
