(I think.) Anyway..Is this happening to Windows users as well. Are all the Mac Users running 10.2.6, because I was loving LimeWire/Gnutella until I upgraded.

Thanks...Jim

I'm running MAC OS 10.2.6. The corrupted file message also appears when I download only 1 song at a time. Often it stops at 99%, and when you click "yes" (you want to continue download), the downloaded file disappears in digital nirwana. I'M really curious to hear whether Windows users go through the same, or whether it's only the MACs.
It really sucks...

I have 10.2.6, and I've never encountered that problem.

file corrupted!!!!!!

I also have mac 10.2.6 and almost every file i download comes up as corrupted!?!? Is this some type of program glitch or something???

Any suggestions, or should I just boycot limewire and stop wasting my time!?

My immediate guess is pure coincidence. I mean, if it's "almost every" file, than it's not a permanent, consistent glitch. It's inconsistent. I'd suggest to continue to download, and see if you're luck improves. It could be that you've just been unlucky in your downloads. Come back after a couple more downloads and tell us what happened.

Hmmm

OK, I'm running LW2.9.11 on OS10.2.6 and I have not seen any increase in the number of files flagged as corrupted. Whenever I see the warning, I always continue to the end and test the quality of the download. As we are always dealing with old copyright-free material, there can be many "faults" in the quality of the recordings. Hence, I take a pragmatic view. During my period of Limewire use, I think I have discarded about a dozen as "this would drive me insane if I tried to listen to this again" files. The vast majority of those flagged have only a few minor blemishes. Those which have more intrusive faults, I remove from the sharing folder to prevent spreading the "problem" further downstream (we all do that, don't we?!?). The others I leave for others to share (sorry about that but, since folks are getting what I offer without payment, they cannot expect the same uniformly high quality as from a purchased product, now can they?!?).

Thanks for the response. I understand that LimeWire/Gnutella requires a certain amount of “Baby Sitting”, but can say with %100 certainty that the problem I “And apparently others” are experiencing is a new one. I have been using LimeWire via OSX, for over a year, and have been able to download music files in quantity with few if any corrupted files. Last week I started getting consistent corrupted files. “I mean every file!” "And they disapear into oblivian, no matter how I choose to deal with them". Something has changed! Either with the latest version of LimeWire or my system. (I am leaning towards my system). Another user suggested repairing permissions which I did reluctantly. “Must admit that performance did seem to increase” However the same problems appear. I really have no answers, but here are some consistencies:

1 If I download 1 file at a time I have no problems. (Noted by another Post..Thanks)
2 If I download 2, files, the first will download without a problem, but the second will be corrupt.
3 After that 99% of all files I download will be corrupt until I reboot and go back to “one file at a time.”

You know, I appreciate the fact that this (The LimeWire Network) is a good thing, and am willing to accept the shortcomings of the platform. (Downloading one file at a time is not that bad) The frustration comes when something that works well stops working well. Still searching…Jim

I've had the same recent problem

EVERY file is corrupted. This is a problem that began only a few days ago, up until then I could download several files at a time. it is very frustrating. Would somebody at Limewire PLEASE explain the problem??

Ok, people, i'm not Limewire, but I can help. If it's a version change, I would advocate switching to jum's build of Limewire, which can be found at http://baghira.han.de/~jum/. Jum's version seems to fix many common OS X bugs. Perhaps it'll fix this one.

That build of limewire does nothing to solve the file-corrupt problems. It seems as though the Limewire folk have run into a problem with compatibility for 10.2.6. Oh well, hopefully they'll catch up to speed before they lose all of us to morpheus or kazaa when they come out with their mac versions....
