Are you sure you are connected? Click on the connections tab and see if you have hosts listed, also the "bullet" to the left where you see "sharing zero files should be green. If it is red you aren't connected.

As Blackbird mentioned not sharing files will greatly reduce your returns. It should not, however, completely eleminate them.
