Angry download problem.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I have a new computer (Windows XP) with a Cable/DSL connection that was working fine with Limewire until yesterday. Now when attempting to download files, speed starts at only about 12KB/s and quickly drops to 0KB/s. I've even left my computer on overnight to see if files would continue to download, but to no avail. I recently added a Linksys Broadband Router to my system, but all was fine for quite a few hours after it was added, so I don't think that is the problem. I am waiting for LimeWire Pro to be delivered to me, but am suspect as to whether the problem will persist after the upgrade. Also, tell me what my options settings should be at (as I have changed a few in hopes that the problem would be resolved).

Angry downloading very badly

I'm in the same mood !!
What the use of having 350 or 500 connections available, if no one is realy a file that you can download ! "Could not download; awaiting sources" I'm french, and there are words that I can memorise very well : "Could not download; awaiting sources" and I can wait for a night, a day, a week, any time, NO WAY, no download.
Have you got an answer to this ; why a source is declaring itself "available" if nothing comes ? Something is rotten in the kingdom of Limewire, and I mean rotten. see you later, Chabada. (ADSL, Mac)

Yes...I've noticed something similar. I have a fairly high-speed DSL conenction. Downloading files from links on the internet usually gives me 100-300 Kb/sec. But when I try to download any of the hundreds of search hits I get on limewire...the connection speed usually bounces between 0 Kb/sec and 5 Kb/sec. I've seen exactly ONE file go faster than that...clocking in at an impressive 38 Kb/sec! Does anyone have any idea why these files just go so slow in general?

downloads are as fast as the slowest link.

I've seen >100KB/s (downloading a popular file from many fast sources), but not often. If a file is only available from a modem user, or is coming from a host serving many people, you'll only get a small piece of their bandwidth. That's why it's best to download files available from many sources. 4-6KB/s is probably more typical.

If you are behind a firewall, your chances of fast reliable downloads get even slimmer.

Look at your LimeWire Help menu Tip of the Day for more info. The user guide used to have more info (I think it has been offline for updating)

Default not existent downloads

I know what you mean...
Having had Limewire for 9 months or so, this is the worst I have ever seen it. All seems fine when downlaoding from multiple sources but as soon as you get to single sources it all goes wrong. Everything is 'awaiting sources' even though they show up on repeated search attempts.

Maybe someone from gnutella or limewire should have a look at things....?
