Does anyone know why every time I search for a movie a 105.2 kb comes up with a large number of users? I was thinking maybe it is a hoax of some sort...? And if not maybe they are just compressed into smaller forms for faster downloading?

A 105K file? Yes. It could be that the movie has been cut down to several pieces and compressed to make a smaller file for faster dlds. It could also be that some of the more ignorant or newbie people have tried dlding a movie and dld this file thinking that it would be it. Of course, a file that small is either a trailer or a trash file, if it doesn't fall under the first category (pieces of a whole). In case you don't know (I think you do, but still...), a "regular" movie file, compressed in an acceptable quality, measures around 700Megs.

Hey I appreciate the reply....I just thought it was weird for every single thing I search for it comes up the exact size of 105.2 kb on least on one of the results. I also thought maybe it was a bug or something.

Salut, the 105.2 kb results with many sources with ANY searches come from SPAM hosts identifying themselves as Limewires but I heard they were in fact Gnucleus. They are ******* spammers. I really think LW should use an hostile list like Bearshare, GTK-gnutella, Gnucleus, Shareaza (well nearly every other P2P client). Suggestion: ignore movies under 1 meg (banning the cluster of spammers by hand is way too long, I tried it
)Bonne chance

Thanks et voilà & Peerless, actually that's the point I tried to make in an identical thread http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28013 a bit earlier. I told murasami we had identical threads hehehe. This also brings in the point about replicated search results. Likewise, I found that jpg's were also replicated upon the search name. So I filter out jpgs's to keep my results clean as possible. And also be careful of particularly long names to movies - chances are they're fake!

Oh MAN!!
I gotta stop staying up so late (for the most time in front of my computer no less!!). I didn't even realize that Foxy was talking about 105 Kilobytes! I just read movie and my tired brain automatically interpreted the thing as 105 Megs! Man, oh man... I'm really starting to loose it here...
