Default Upload speeds

Limewire's 4.2.x upload speed control is broken. Running under Win XP.

The prefs file always shows the upload speed to be 25KB/s no matter what the setting in within Limewire. Even if I change the value manually, it is ignored and max upload speed carries on, impacting on my d/l speeds.

This bug has been reported, but I wonder if anybody has been able to tame Limewire in this regard. I did not notice the problem in v4.0.x

If you're using anything other than a dial-up modem, it shouldn't affect your dwnld speed. I've never heard of cable/broadband where the 2 are related. You'll normally have a separate max upld speed & a max dwnld speed provided by your isp. So they shouldn't affect each other.
Whenever you change the upld setting within LW, you need to press the 'Apply' button! Don't forget. The only other option I can think of is that you change your setting to a lower type of connection. This will affect the way the controls work.

I have and experienced it. If I upload to my website, maxing out my upload channel, my d/l speed drops significantly.

Thanks. That is the 1st I've heard of it. But then I've never used cable. Then perhaps my othre suggestion to change to dsl/modem setting within LW will give you the control you need.
