lordnick5000: It would help to know which OS you use. Yo uprobably need moe codecs for your video player: http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html
OR get a free video player that plays all types of video (has inbuilt codecs) except the odd wmv file that has licencing: VLC (a free player - click on link) & make this your default player do everytime you browse a video vlc will play it. Good luck lord

I've never heard of that before but you could be right. I hope you have anti virus softw & ad-ware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ & Spy Sweeper http://www.webroot.com/wb/downloads/index.php

CODEC is short for compressor/decompressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing data. Codecs can be implemented in software, hardware, or a combination of both. Some popular codecs for computer video include MPEG, Indeo and Cinepak.

Your WMP probably doesn't have the correct codecs to play the videos you're tryng to play. Installing more codecs will hopefully overcome that problem. The reason I suggested VLC is that it has in-built codecs into the program istelf. It's not the prettiest app but it does that job.

so i go to the VLC website (provided by you) and click download VLC windows, then it has a whole bunch of of other things like: Windows self-extracting package:

vlc-0.8.1-win32.exe (6.7MB) :
Select a mirror :
-VIA, Ecole Centrale Paris (France)
-Twente University (Netherlands)
-Cr@ns, ENS Cachan (France)
-Providence University (Taiwan)
-Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (Brazil)

which one do i chose? sorry im hopeless at this :o
and know i cant open my windows player :(

Lord of the Rings December 12th, 2004 06:15 PM

These are simply what's known as mirror sites, ie: they have the same thing. Just choose the one closest to you. I dwnlded mine from France but I live over the opposite side of the world! lol :D

Oh to make VLC the default to play movies, highlight one of these files (outdise of LW) & go to File>Properties>Open with... & select VLC. ANd choose always open with.

lordnick5000 December 12th, 2004 06:18 PM

i live in USA, so i geuss ill go with france to, now how do i make it my defalt player? sorry im wasting ur time :(

Lord of the Rings December 12th, 2004 06:20 PM

Because there's more than one type of movie file; eg: mpeg1, mpeg2, avi, etc. You'll need to do it with each of these types of file so VLC becomes the default to play them. But remember to set default outside of Limewire. Now if you launch a movie within LW, VLC will open it. Good luck & happy watching! ;)
