![]() Well I been using LW for a while now and I just recently moved. I just got my new cable modem at my new house. I open LW and start dl and Im getting connected to several different host's but I'm not getting any speed above 1 k/b. Sometimes it even goes to zero and there is no time shown of when the dl will be complete. Then it will start dl again at like 1 or 2 k/b? Please someone help. Nothing has changed only my isp. edit: sony vaio, xp home xpack2, cable modem by charter, home Thanks, garrett- Last edited by formatr6; December 14th, 2004 at 10:25 PM. |

![]() Whilst LW is closed try deleting your LW Preferences folder called .limewire & found here: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire Keep in mind your settings will be deleted also so make a note of them before you delete the LW prefs. What brand name & model number of modem do you use? After LW has been open for 20-30+ mins can you do this test for us: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is your result True/False? |

![]() Ok I will try to delete my preffernce's folder. I did the bug test and it came back as true` Thanks for the quick reply! edit: My modem has no name. One thing I noticed is that when I play CS here my ping sometimes will be around 80 - 100. Then sometimes it will be at around 20. I think this neiborhood is filled and the dacs are maxed out. But the lag is not noticable when I surf the net. Also lastly my rating sometimes is only excellent and never at turbo charged here. I wish I still had my old isp and my old house. Adelphia was kinda nice after all *sigh* Last edited by formatr6; December 14th, 2004 at 10:46 PM. |

![]() Did you reset your LW option settings? You should give LW time to settle down. It can take a while depending upon how many incomplete files you have. Also I do not recommend using the Resume button on many files. This is not healthy for LW. It can be effective for a few. But if you have many resumed files they will queue for much longer than they should & may weaken your LW connection quality & take its energy away. It is much better to manually search for sources to refreshen or find new sources to dwnld from. Here's some hints on optimising LW: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities. |

![]() I missed your previous edit. It could be a neighborhood issue. If other people are using p2p, video conferencing &/or using games then there could be jumps & variable speeds. You could try at a different time of day. Here's some various types of tests: http://www.broadbandreports.com/tools And try the tests at different intervals to see if there's any variation - which could be blamed on your neighborhood. |
