Just a thought it sounds like it might be a resource issue. I understand you are using a dialup connection through aol. Try this as soon as LW opens pause the d/l let LW stabilize for say 10 minutes or so. Then do a manual search for your file. Let the search complete. Then click resume one time this should resume the download then close your manual search. Please don't click the resume more than once as this will create a hardship on your resources and LW network. Also a better description of your setup would help. Machine Type including CPU type How much ram free HDD space connection type etc. BTW when I first got this machine I had Dialup and aol. I recall having a similar problem when using Netscape Navigator when downloading. AOL would disconnect after so long. |
THANK YOU MY SYSTEM INFO DELL desktop 250MBs RAM 20 GBs FREE MEMORY AT THE MOMENT 44% 6.16GBs used 12.6 free only cause I haven't deleted a few video ts files some movies that I copied! I only use this computer as a go getter lol thansks agian! |
250 MB ram is not a lot for LW! Even for windows using todays apps. |
hmm looks like it may be resource problems here. I just checked the microsoft website. It said 64 Mb ram min. sys requirement 128 Mb ram recomended. It also recomended a modem driver update for aol users who were experincing disconnect problems. Not sure but the way the article read I don't think that is an issue for you, but the ram certaintly does. You can do a search for windows me and it should return a link to the right ms site if you want to read it. I think when you are trying to start LW with a d/l there are 3 programs trying to use your ram at the same time. ME, AOL, & LW. LW being on the bottom of the priority list. Kinda Like being in a traffic jam. If you try the suggestion I made in the previous post this may eliminate some of the burden on your ram. Also check to make sure your modem driver is up to date. Let us know if this helped. DELL Dimensions 8400 series intel P4@3.0 Ghz HT 512 Mb DDR2 (PC4200@533 Mhz) 74 G hdd WindowsXP MCE Actiontec DSL Modem set for T-1 using LW |
