I'm new to Limewire, and new to computers, so I'm not sure how to fix this problem. HELP!!!!!!!!
I'm downloading a file ( movie) and when I try to preview it my windows media player says it doesn't have the right codec. I've downloaded every codec I know of. The file is a avi file. Do I need special dvd codecs or what? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Richard

I'd guess that it's a corrupt file. The internal encoding type is in an internal file header. The only time I've seen WMP (admittedly a pre-6.0 version) refuse to play an AVI, the encoding version was some number it didn't recognize.
BTW, this isn't a LimeWire problem. You should check on WMP forums. |

Thanks for the help! If its corrupt I would hate to find out after downloading all of it. It's taking forever ( dial-up)
Should I try the same file, but from another person? Thanks again! Richard |
