Download Speed ALWAYS drops to ZERO

Sorry if this is a repeat - I can't seem to find an answer in Forum or FAQ . Why does my d.l. speed start off at 33mbps and drop steadily to zero and then just freeze ? I am on ROGERS CABLE in Toronto, Canada if that makes any difference and my connecton is through a router....TIA

I'm having this same problem. I'm only on a DSL connection, though. I found leaving the downloads set to 8, and not giving LW unlimited bandwith helps alot. I've got my bandwith capped at about 30 kB/s. It seems to help a bit.

Download speed drops to zero

This started a couple of days ago.
Download speed starts normal and then slows down till it reaches zero. Have no idea what to do. Can someone help? Tried everything.
Thanks

aye me 2

iv got the same problem, it doesent matter what i download, the speeds all start up at v good for me prahaps 50-70Kbs somtimes iv even got over 160Kbs but after about 30 mins they have all slowly and stedaly dropped down to 1-2Kbs and never recouver

i dont use a firewall and i know that the SP2 xp firewall is definatly switched off so please dont start on about doing this and that 2 my firewall settings and anyhow it cant realy be anything to do with firewall type problems as they start out with a realy good speed which they wouldent if there was that kind of problem.

i have found that if i log out and shut down AOL, wait 4 a bit then relog and rerun LW i get the speed back again 4 a while but not 4 long!

Can anyone please help its realy anouying and im not guna buy the pro version untill i know that its not guna do this as well.

Thx all Greg.

It is probably your ISPs limiting Gnutella traffic to save bandwidth costs :( Have you guys tried using LW on a different port than 6346?

The best way to tell if ISP limits traffic it to connect to the internet at some other place or via 56k to see if then traffic slows to 0kB/s.

Ciao

so R we all on AOL? (thats a retrospective question to all other poster) and im not sure about how we would change the port being used, can someone enlighten me a little please.

I would try the dialup idea but im not sure if i could tell if it was dropping anywhere cos i dought it would start out with anything other than a v slow speed in the first place and like i said mine dont drop compleatly two zero (supose it might have done if i had left it long enough but iv always quit at 1-2Kbs).

ok Thx all Greg.

for the 985th time 1kb/s = 0,125 kB/s. A 56kb/s can't reach more 7kB/s even with compression.

Greg: don't know what you are talking about for the AOL thing, AOL sucks why would I know about it?
Go in options->advanced-> firewall and change the 6346 value to something like 1000.

Also, enable the "distribution" (well that's the french name, don't know in english) column by right clicking on the download window column. If you see RAZA ou shareaza, then it is normal that the dl is slow, just bitch those users :p

err whats that all about ? i dident say dialup could go any faster than 7KBs, in fact its exactly becouse dialup starts at such a slow speed that i couldent realy c if its dropping anywhere!

No im not specificly talking with u, i just wanted 2 know if all the people who r getting massive slow down r useing AOL as there ISP, OBVIOUSLY U R NOT!, and btw theres nothing wrong with AOL but thats another argument .

i dont think that having 7 hosts on T1 or even T3 or higher offering 1Kb/s is normal at all, especaly when they were giving 160Kb/s 15 mins ago, and it happens on all of the dl,ing files at the same time.

You definitly don't understand/read correctly. Read again or else our help is useless /time wasted.
