Files listed, but not right once downloaded

Over the last couple of months everytime I download a picture file, the name of the file I am looking for comes up, but when I download then and then play them, they are not the same file as the title says! Has anyone else dealt with this? And I know its P2P files but enoug! I put legit things out for other people to use.

u say your DL,ing pictures and then u say when u go to play them, r u dl,ing pic,s or video files?

if there video then u should use the preview almost as soon as u can i.e after a fue % has dl,ed, or as soon as it will let u preview them, then u can tell if there what u expected.

if there pic,s then since they only take seconds to dl then i would just dl a whole batch of what look like the right title and then just brouse through them all when there done and keep the ones that u want.

Greg.

Sorry, they are video files. Ever since we downloaded Limewire the Preview option has never worked, we can not preview a file while it is downloading.

gregmark34 July 18th, 2005 05:07 AM

well theres somthing wrong with either your LW, media player or the file types assisiation, cos preview is an indespesable part of fileshare i cannot imagin how imposible it would b with out preview, even 4 music let alone video.

try a reinstalation of LW and also make sure that your video file format has a working assotiation i.e when you open any video files that you already have, that they open either windows media player or real player, not sure if having any other media player associated with your vid files will load when useing LW, prob r but i never used any others.

Thanks, I will try re-loding:)

im having the same problem.ive downloaded 3 or 4 avi files and i carn't open any of them or even burn them it just freezers dvdsanta and a few more dvd burning programmes tryed reinstalling limewire pro but still the same.any 1 got any ideas if not thats me stumped.

gregmark34 July 19th, 2005 07:26 AM

Have u got all the codecs that u might need 2 view cirten files?

This fileshareing is turning out 2 b a real pain 4 me as well, iv been through about 7 diferant programs but still im not happy with any of them, i realy liked Limewire but it wont hold its download speeds, so today i moved on to the next p2p program Barshare, great i thourght the speeds r holding fine but when i tryed to preview vids with it i couldent it just says on all my media players "file is being used by another program" grrrr!! if its not 1 thing its another. I have now tryed Kazaa, shazrra, Limewire, Bareshare, Morphus, Edonkey, Emule and Blubster(just 4 music)

the only 1 i am actualy guna keep is Blubster, its only 4 music but its bloody good at doing what it suposed 2.
supose ill try another tommorow and with a lot of luck it might just do what i expect from it.

same here m8 its doing my head in too how do i know if i have all the right codecx.i too fancy using another p2p but not sure how to use them.

gregmark34 July 19th, 2005 09:43 AM

i wonder if u can normaly play .avi files?

if u can then u might need a codec, some file r compressed/decompressed (codec) with difrent sofware i.e Xvid or DivX etc if u see things like this in the file name then u need the right codec, try looking up codec on the net u can get them mostly all 4 free but beware of bundles of crap (spyware/addware etc).

Duh! Ever thought about looking at the sticky in this section. Y do u think we put it there?! VLC plays most things as it has in-built codecs. That issue has nothing whatsoever to do with LW program. Surely a few brain cells beyond brain dead would allow U2 C that! :D

I must be hard of hearing perhaps, or perhaps you are. The answers to your problems can be found on the forum if you search for them. And I help people here as a volunteer. And I can also choose which posts I decide to answer or not. I try to help as many people as possible. The most frequent questions are answered in stickys. And I've already answered the question to this thread. My reference to brain cells was in regards to your attitude. Y would anybody want to help someone with your attitude.

aanfield July 21st, 2005 08:48 AM

wheres the attitude all i did was speak my mind it was u who called me brain dead not the other way round.some people arnt as clued up as u on this subject so a little more patient wunt go a miss

gregmark34 July 21st, 2005 03:56 PM

wow some people , ok so a lot a people dont want 2 read or search all through the dam fourm and just wona ask a question, and if u think that there stupid 4 not searching first isent that up 2 them, but what realy amazes me is that Lord.. found the iresistable need to respond with a compleatly negitive responce, if u dont wona respond then dont! cauling people that u dont even know brain dead seems a little reflective 2 me.

o and btw the first time i installed LW it wouldent play preview either so thats y i sugested it.

Lord of the Rings July 21st, 2005 04:10 PM

Ok gregmark34 point taken, but the hilarious thing about this thread is that the answers to "all" of "your" problems in this thread are already sitting there in a sticky. Press the go button below & look at the sticky or here's a shortcut: Downld/Upld Problems Sticky

gregmark34 July 22nd, 2005 12:28 AM

aye ok, but i am the kind of person that does read through the fourm so i have already read all the stickys on all the Gnutella clients (even the ones i dont use). I know its realy anouying when peeps dont read them especaly when your a moderator and u c the same questions over and over ( I know iv moderated a Neverwiners Nights Fourm).

I just came here a fue weeks ago cos i had a problem with LW and thourght that i would offer some simple help back 2 the fourm if i could cos im not just a taker of info, i like 2 contrabute if i can, I dident realy feel like just directing him elsewhere supose i should have realy give him a link 2 some relivent codecs but i got the feeling that he dident know what a codec was so i thourght that he prahaps should have a good look on the net.

Dont forget that somtimes its easyer to just change Client if you dont have to much tech knolage on the subject but saying that i seriously would sugest staying with the Gnutella client software as this is the best. I never did get LW sorted seems that my server was constricting my bandwidth with LW so rather that change my ISP im now quite happy with BS.

Anyway b well both of u Greg.
