The thing is I'm more like surprised!!! How could this happen all of a sudden???

The 2 things are different. Some isp's use programs that specifically filter p2p sharing. This is one example: http://www.sandvine.com/products/p2p_element.asp
For those that have discovered that they're now blocked/filtered, they also find it happens "all of a sudden"!

A simple thing to try to make sure it's not LW's fault is to try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Otherwise, to try other ports: Go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall & change the listening port to something else like 1203, 80, 20282, or 443. Need to press apply button after changing it. Then go to File>Connect or disconnect, wait a minute, then connect. Try each of the suggested port no.'s but allow LW at least 15+ mins to attempt to connect.

Alright, Kazaalite works fine, so I guess the ISP is alright

trying to change ports is not working for me

Could there be any kind of virus??

I did uninstall and install it, did no good

Well I just repaired my O/S.
No I'm in doubt, how can I know it it's the ISP that slows the downloading.

um sometimes if ur having slow download speed it might have something to do with the person that you are trying to download off like if they uploaded the file movies or whateva they could be using dial up it does not matter if you are using broudband becuase im only getting 5kb/s at the min so u know it might have something to do with that person

Hi Lord,
I tried changing my port and its worked a gem... i'm connected at 4.2Mbps over ADSL and was only able to download at 1/2KB but now happily averaging 40/50KB..
Thanks again

Hey you must make sure that you have enough sources (to do this you must see in limewire when downloading from how many hosts eg downloading from 7 hosts will be good speed)
and if you have a router just tell me the name of your router
If you want to know if your ISP limit the speed just go and ask them (call them or email them)
Do portforwarding if you have a router
SET Limewire To default setting To do this Go To:
Tools>Option
Click on Restore Default button

highlimitpro what do you mean you changed your port a lil help please

HighLimitPro July 23rd, 2005 01:47 AM

Hi Joaq,
I just did what exactly lord said to do,i think you said you tried it but to no avail...
Try going to Tools>Options>Advanced>firewall then change it from what should be 6346 to 443 or 1203 or 80.Remember to click apply then ok.
I disconnected first then made those changes then reconnected..worked for me..try it again and let me know
Regards John
