You should've used the forum search (great tool

) to look for license or read all of this thread

...you would've found
License (click)

Then why did you post onto a license issue thread?

Sounds like fake files...see the thread below for more info
Fake files showing up in search results

Make sure to use Bitzi to check a file before download.

If nothing seems to work, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

mac users would find such preferences folder here /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire
& Linux here ~/.limewire or ~/Application Data/limewire

Newb poster here. Just downloaded basic LW (had a version on a previous computer, worked fine). Now, I can download the files, but on many files, when I try to play them in Windows Media Player, I get a window which pops up named "License Acquisition" from media.downloadmediacentral.com (showing a picture of a chick in a bikini and inviting me to meet hot singles), and another "File Download" window which asks me to download a file named "Play.exe".

I am suspicious of downloading a file named "Play.exe". Is this normal? Do I have to download that file?

Thanks,
K

I deleted the .limewire file and now LW is no longer on my computer. Do I need to reinstall LW basic?

Thanks,
K
