Limewire 4.9.27 Corrupts my Connection

I'm on a cable modem and regularly see download speeds of ~600KB/sec.

When I start downloads in Limewire they initially download quite swiftly and then my entire connection creeps to a halt. All internet access halts until I close limewire and "Repair" my connection.

I'm running windows XP on an Athlon 3000+ with Nvidia Nforce3 250 chipset.

Any advice is appreciated.
