AVI files in Real Player

Hi, I only just got Limewire the other evening, and have tried to download a tv episode of Lost, the file type being an AVI. Once it was downloaded i went to open it and play in in RealPlayer and it played the sound but not the visual. I made sure i had the most recent release of RealPlayer but this has made no difference at all... can anybody help explain how i can view this at all? Cheers!

That's due to not having the correct codecs to play the file. See the Sticky at the top of this section for links to codec sources. Also I would recommend 2 things: 1. Get GSpot as it will tell you which codec you need. & 2. Get VLC which is a player that has in-built codecs & is very reliable but doesn't play rp files. Use it as a backup player.
