Mallchin

I understand what you want to to because I have done something similar myself, as stated in my previous post, but I am somewhat stumped by what you have said:
Quote:

Tools > Options > what? -- there is no option for this in my version
Because I have been using LW since version 4.0.5 and I set up my "complete" and "incomplete" folders on my "I" drive back then.

However, as I am at home I have just had the chance to look at my current LW Pro (Ver, 4.9.37) and I cannot find anything in the Tools>options facility to tell LW where you want to put your "Incomplete" folder, even though I am sure it was there in previous versions of LW. How else could I have moved this folder from it's default place to my "I" drive and now (recent past) move my folders to my "N" drive.

I feel that this facility was there before and now it's been updated out.

Maybe one of the boffins can confirm or deny this.

I obviously hadn't refreshed my page because I missed ukbobboy01's response. Likewise, I swapped my downld location from C to G I think it is. And both incomplete & complete files are there. But I don't think I had many if any incompletes at the time I made the change. Which is why I can't confirm on the practice here. I believe I quit LW after making the change & moved any files left in the older incomplete to the newer one. But my memory is a bit vague here.

ukbobboy01 did you move any of your incomplete files from the older location to the newer one? It certainly does seem the incomplete folder is as it were, under the same directory as the completed downlds. As suggested, there may be a way to go around this but that's not what mallchin wants to do (which is what I mistakenly thought he initially wanted to do.)

I've just installed LW onto my fresh Windows setup and set it to save completed files to D:\P2P, it automagically created and is saving incompleted files in D:\Incoming.

It would appear the incompleted directory is not configurable, and default is to save them on the same partition as the completed files folder.

It would be good if I could change where the incompleted files are stored (D:\Incoming isn't ideal), but after my little shuffle around and re-install I have plenty of space, so it isn't so much of an issue as it once was.

Thanks for your help with this guys, I think we can safely say the new version of LW doesn't have an option to configure where incompleted files are stored hehe. Oh well, case closed :)

Cheers!

You can't configure where your incomplete goes, but you can change the location of your specific media downld folders. I haven't tried to move them all ... just one (2 actually). It seems to work fine ... the document type of iles saves on a different partition to the incomplete & 'other' saved file folder. As did programs when I tried it.

you wanted to save both on same partition .. no major issue, but not whilst you're stilll using LW. You'd need to re-launch LW.

Moving Folders

LOTR

Just seen your post:

It seems obvious now that you cannot configure the "Incomplete" folder independently of the "Complete" folder, whereas you can move the "Complete" folder to anywhere you like.

As mentioned by LOTR, the “Complete” folder itself can be configured further to store different types of files in different sub-directories. However, the “Incomplete” folder has to be in the same directory as the (main) "Complete" folder.

Live and learn.

ukbobboy01:

The incompleted & completed folders can exist on seperate drives and/or in seperate folders, there's no restriction on them being in the same folder.

It'd just be nice to set where incompleted files go. It just seems plain daft this is not configurable.
