when i try to preview a file im downloading it opens with windows media player and gives me an error about the codec

does any1 know what codec i need and where i can get it?

I think this rather depends on the type of file, but a good thing to use if you hit this problem is the VLC player which has codecs bult in.

The site http://www.free-codecs.com/ will provide you with codecs and hopefully tell you what you need.
