Has anyone ever open limewire only to get a message stating "error cannot download your old files"? This happened 2 times after I had files downloading and I logged off and came back about 1hr later. I had to restart the download.

This will happen if:
1. You don't close LW down properly before shutting down computer. 2. Your computer crashes whilst LW is still open. 3. You delete the download.dat file from the incomplete folder. 4. You revert back to a much older version. ie: make sure LW is properly closed down before shutting down computer. Open Task manager to make sure Limewire is not listed. BTW if this happens, you can go to LW's Library window, select the incomplete folder, select the incomplete files & press resume button. But ... they'll start at zero % no matter what their size, etc. is. Edit: with the newer versions of LW, once the files are forced back into the Download window, they will show zero % downloaded until they start downloading again, after which they will show their previous download percentage. ![]() Go to LW Library window, Select incomplete folder near bottom, select first file, then whilst holding down the SHIFT key, select the last one & press Resume button. This will move them all at once back into Downloads window.

I have many huge files in the incomplete/temp folders for Limewire & Bearshare and Bearfilx that will not resume no matter what I do.
For example, going to the Limewire incompletes folder and trying resume doesn't work, because resume is not even listed as an option. The incomplete files are all there along with alot of .dat files taking up alot of space but they never resume. I am using Limewire Pro 4.12.6. What do you do if resuming the incomplete files is not even an option? Thanks Manny C. |

There should be a Resume button there, it's been there for many years. You need to select the incomplete file before it is able to be used. In my case I have installed LW on new computer but haven't actually downloaded anything yet, so no incompletes to select so it's not greyed out like below.

LW 5 is a different kettle of fish. Try researching the topic files you did originally.
![]() Only other alternative I am aware of that actually works is to downgrade to LW 4.16 .. at least temporarily; Downgrading to LimeWire 4 from 5 & resuming incomplete downloads. That way will at least work. Your incomplete files will start from zero however, at least they will start.
