Default Slow and Lock

After launching LW and beginning dl. within a few minutes my computer becomes un responsive. the mouse will move but no response not even CTL-Atl-Del ... The only recourse is flip the big switch and start over.

Any thoughts or can you point me towards the info.... I'm using LW 4.9.3.7

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Else go to control panel & open Java utility.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
12. After opening LW, do you use the Resume/Find Sources button on all your incomplete files?
13. Approximately how many files do you share?
14. Approximately how many incomplete files do you have?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your problem is.

15. Running for Days..... I had been leaving the LW up and running for days. After this problem surfaced. I did virus scan with Mcafee none to be found... used AdAware searching for problems and Regisrty Mechanic to sort out broken links.....

I would recommend 3 things:

1. Update your Java (see tip in link below in point #2)

2. Delete your LW preferences folder whilst LW is closed. See points #1 & 2 here Fixes for Limewire (sample images of how to delete your LW prefs folder at bottom of page!)

3. Reinstall LW using the newest version which has fixed some small bugs (choose the "Offline" installer version!!!): http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
