i have deleted that folder and reset the preferences..

but nothing have changed.. still cannot find anything..one week before it was working as it should be, but recently not..

is it possible that my pc might be infected by a virus?
on the other hand, pc can do other tasks properly..

thank you..

Check the 1st section here WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link) & you'll find a number of online virus checks you can do.

You never did tell me. Who is your ISP (internet service provider)?
Lack of search results generally points to an ISP using a p2p shaper.

I don't know how keen you are about this thought, but you could try installing another gnutella program to see if you have the same problem. Try BearShare Lite http://www.filehippo.com/download_bearshare_lite/

I just installed BearShare. Gave up after a few minutes.

- Searching no better than here: I want it to return results that contain ALL the words I enter not just ONE of them.

- Enormous trouble setting up my shares. It forced me to share my download directory, which I never do, then when I removed it from the shares was telling me I was sharing nothing.

Basically it's poor.

btw. I might upgrade to pro if they can guarantee to fix problem (1) above. I want my shares to come up only with what I have searched for and no more. And I don't want this "too specific" crap.

Search results depend entirely on the responder, not the software you use.
Limewire is the servent most guilty of returning partial matches to searches.
BearShare deliberately errs in your favour and shows all results, though you can
restrict it a bit in Setup/Searching by selecting "Hide non-matching results".

Shares will not appear until you have downloaded and shared them, and are
not supposed to be filled with your own searches. If you are sharing nothing,
wouldn't you want the software to be aware of that? Simply put; if you aren't
actually downloading and don't have the files yet, how can you share them?

Feel free to share more folders whenever you wish from any disk on your
computer. The downloads folder is only one option, and obviously you aren't
being "forced" to share it if you were able to unshare it so easily within
minutes of installing BearShare. It is selected by default as a convenience to
users, nothing more, and there is nothing sinister about that.
