Default Limewire mp4s to itunes help please

Ive had limewire for a while now and everythings fine on the songs front but when i come to downloading videos i have some problems. I have an ipod video so i have to download mp4s and ive been doing this fine, ive downloaded about 10 videos but only about 5 of them work. Some play on itunes and others dont so i try to play the through quicktime and it says this is not a movie file. so why do only some of the mp4s play through itunes? ive checked properties and compared a video that does and doesnt work and they are exactly the same someone please help me

There's different variations of mpeg 4. You have divx, xvid, 3ivx, etc. Each is a variation & has differences. The 2 that iPod will use are strictly mpeg 4 & H.264 which is another mpeg 4 format.
Which platform are you using? Mac OSX or windows or Linux?

I'm not a windows user per se, so I can only recommend looking at the middle part of this post: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) - for video
