![]() Well, then that might be the answer to your problem: From: Houston,Harris,TX Contract was $59 per month From order to live: about 12 days Pre Sales information: Install Co-ordination: Connection Reliability: Tech Support: Services: Value for money: (ratings match consensus) : "Hard to say" : "Poor quality/speeds/reliability/support" : "IMO: Avoid if humanly possible" Speed: 1500/1500 (Since connected I have received higher BUT also speeds BELOW dial-up) Price: $55 Service: Basic internet only (TVMax being the only provider of cable at a very high price) Setup: 3 days for tech to come out and say I am OK and that I need to call back to get a modem, 12 days for them to send me a modem. (Online in only 6 because I went out and bought one) Dynamic IP (which has only changed once due to hurricane power outages) I ordered internet only for my Apt in Houston, TX after speaking with a rep on the phone. I asked the usual questions how long and so forth and 3 days later a tech came out and set up the service. The tech plugged in his reader and said your all done. I replied, "Ugh, don't you provide the modem?" His reply was, "You have to call a rep and ask to get one mailed to you." Considering I spoke with a rep 3 days earlier about getting NEW service and she mentioned nothing about if I need a modem I considered that very unprofessional and bleak. That was the tip of the iceberg so to speak. After day 6 I broke down and bought my own modem. On day 12 their modem finally got to me and I have not even opened the box. Since being connected I have had very unreliable service. I have done speed tests with speeds LOWER than DIALUP (81kbps!) and those were around 12AM! (And of course no other local network activity). Disconnects are averaging 2 to 3 times a month for around 30-45mins. I have talked with tech support about very slow download/upload speeds while using bit-torrent to distribute WORK and personal data. Recently they have begun shaping traffic. I have had repeated talks with support about this and each time they DENY what I have confirmed through packet-logging/encryption/tracert. I do not mind the fact they are trying to preserve bandwidth but I would like a choice in the matter. I can, and always have, limited my bandwidth to non-peak hours but they still deny anything is wrong on their end. It seems this ISP has made their business by forming a type of monopoly with complexes around the area. Signing contracts that force all other competitors out so they have no problems ignoring their own customers. I will be moving out of a perfectly good apartment because of the lack of a good ISP. IMO stay away from this ISP at all costs. To see the full comments of other users, go here: http://www.dslreports.com/reviews/2599
