Maybe posting exactly what the message says will get you an answer. Also what kind of files (.avi, mpg or all?). What player/s do you use to play them ?

Please post other info that I asked for as well. Anything else you think is relevant as well. Could you also PM me some filenames that make this happen. Does this happen with all .avi files. Did you check them with Bitzi and do these files play after the message or does Windows freeze or shut down ?

Have to do some research on that.

Have to go now, but will look at it later tonight

Are you sure these are AVI files? If yes, then it's probably wanting to find a codec. Try VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) which has in-built codecs & will NOT react to links within files. But you may need to change the default program of opening of video files to VLC; Setting Default video app

But please answer Sleepless's questions so we can find out more about this problem to help you & others.

Ok, i downloaded '*****', which is in avi format. once the download had finished, it saves into My Music as i ask it to. When i go to view the video, i click on My Music, after a few seconds a message appears displaying ' windows explorer has encountered an error' and gives me the option whether to not send the error information ( just like when a program crashes'. as soon as i hit 'dont send' my taskbar and icons disappear then return. The only way to get rid of the message is by deleting the file. i have researched but have not been successful. I hope this is significant information !

There's something wrong with one of the files that you have downloaded...
Write down the codes in the error report...
Post them back in this thread and I wil tell you which to use...

Thank you for the details. Now try as I suggested with VLC. It will NOT react to links within video files. It also has the most recent in-built codecs to play both video & audio. Change your default over to VLC & you won't regret it I'm sure. Not many if any people have ever regreted it.
