Hey Brother Rastaman1

You have to reconfigure your Norton firewall so that it lets your new version of LW through to the internet.

If you can't do the reconfiguring then follow these instructions:

Let us know how you get on.

I am having the same problem as above, I looked at the post where the questions were asked and the different steps to try. When I do step number 2 it says can not find server. What does this me and what do i need to do to fix it? Limewire worked for a year but I needed to recover my pc and now it does not work. Thanx in advance

You will have to explain yourself a bit better, you are not clear on your particular problem and what you have tried to solve it.

Also, you have to let us know what equipment you are using as well as the version of LW and Java.

When I try to download a file it just sticks never starts downloading. I am using 4.12.6 LW and 1.5 Java. My system settings are matched to rastas or higher. I had Nortan installed and I unistalled it. I have no router nothing but constant connection. I am using UPnP and my port is 51265. Anything else u need? Thanx again for the help.

I have tried a lot of songs all the same things, connecting then looking for more sources. I do not have a wall in front of globe and all bars are green.

Constant connection? Are you on a college, office or any other type of network?

Demonicz August 22nd, 2006 11:24 AM

Constant connection at home through local DSL provider

Do you know if your ISP has introduced anti-P2P technology onto the network, because traffic shaping (as they call it) is becoming very popular amonst ISPs both sides of the Atlantic.

Therefore, I suggest you give them a call, make sure that you speak to a technician, and ask if they have added "traffic curbing/shaping" techniques onto the network.

That's the only way you will know.

I am presuming that you have not added any new software or hardware to your equipment and that it is working within it's specifications.

i have the same problem also.. i have the latest limewire and latest java.. i am connected and have lots of disk space.. although, i can do searches but when i try ro click download to whatever song, it just wouldn't start.. i was able to dl some skins but that was it.. no songs or anything else. and it's not the license thing also.. help...

coleenzkie August 23rd, 2006 12:33 AM

btw,, i tried the license thingie,, and yes, the song will supposedly download but it never changes it status.. its always connecting...

After it sits 'connecting' for ages, does it go straight to 'need more sources'?

Sounds like you're trying to download fake files. These things are all over the place lately & won't ever connect.
Search again. Vary your search terms - look for artist or album rather than song title. Try the All Types search. Stay away from files with huge numbers of sources, I go for files with 10 sources or less;)
