Do you use a modem or router? If you do, what's the brand & model?
Where are you connecting from (home, school, student accommodation etc)?
Did you do the port 6346 test & did it work?
What's changed since LW used to work (new LW version, new hardware etc)?
Are you sharing a connection with other computers?
What kind of high speed connection do you have (cable, satellite etc)?

Remove your current version of Java & then reinstall JRE using the offline installer, it's point 1 in the thread below.
Fixes for LimeWire

Also delete the LW preferences folder, see points 2 & 3 in that thread.

See if that at least gets LW opening:)

My Limewire Is Firewalled??

I use Limewire Pro 4.12.6
I connect to the interent via a router (Netgear DG834GT.. but also use a 54mbps wireless ****** to access the internet)
I have a broadband connection
When i open limewire it recieves a turbo charged connection.
I have no firewalls installed,so therfore i guess the only 1 acting is windows.
I am using Windows XP Home Edition.
Tried the test page suggested and recieve the answer 'Your test worked!'
This is my first try with limewire.
I also have the latest version of Java.
Im connecting from home.
My isp is talk talk .
The connection is not shared
And i see the brickwall infront of the globe at the bottom of the limewire page.
I have 512mb of ram and well over 70gb of hard disk space available.

Please please please could someone try and help me im really frustrated by this, and have a decent understanding of how to configure firewalls etc.. but just cant work out what is stopping it from connecting properly. Although i recieve a turbo connection it only downloads at 2kbps if it downloads anything at all .

PLEASE HELP

I can't find a solution.

Hello. I've been reading all these threads and still cannot solve this problem.
I'm using Windows 98 SE (it doesn't has firewalls), 196 RAM, 700 Mb free and connected throw broadband and always try to connect from home.
I have Norton System Works 2001 (it has no firewalls). Passed the test at http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ ('Your test worked!'). The company server insist they aren't blocking the program ports.
When connect LW I see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface and never goes away. Always trying to connect and only the first (smallest) bar is in green. The rest are in red. Two months ago I could use LW without any problems. I don't know what else to do. Thanks for some help!
